Smart-START for a Healthy Heart is a teacher's guide designed to be used for lectures and as a activity guide for junior high or high school students. The guide includes seven lessons that teach nutrition and health for a healthy heart. Each lesson is broken down into five major headings: key concepts, What do I teach? What can I teach? More than I could teach? and background. There is no workbook but each student may build a notebook as lessons are presented. Suggested class activities include: demonstrations, experiments, games, health issues grid, health voting, group discussions, guest speakers, student reports, role playing and computer diet analysis.
